A Taste of 5 Generations

From Vienna’s markets to the Gold Coast, our family’s love for handcrafted sausages spans over 160 years.

Homegrown. Handmade. Family-Owned Since 1863.

At Eve Smallgoods, we believe that food should be made iwth purpose, honesty, and love.

For over five generations, our family has handcrafted smallgoods using time-honoured recipes, traditional methods, and high-quality ingredients.

We’re proudly based on the Gold Coast and use 100% hormone-free, locally sourced Australian meats. For us, it's not just about making great food. It’s about supporting Aussie farmers, keeping local manufacturing alive, and bringing people together over quality you can taste.

“Our story starts in a Viennese marketplace in 1863… and continues today in kitchens all across Australia.”

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Vienna, 1863

It all started with Karl Götzinger, a young man who left behind a future in mining to follow his passion for food.

He found work cooking for labourers building Vienna’s famous Ringstrasse and became known for his rich, flavour-packed Black Pudding sausage.

Soon after, Karl and his wife opened a small sausage stand at the Naschmarkt, one of Vienna’s most famous markets.

Their son Alois helped run the stand and began learning the family secrets and techniques that would shape five generations of sausage makers.

THE FAMILY BUSINESS TAKES SHAPE

Austria, 1878–1943

Alois and his wife Emma took the next step, opening a butcher’s shop in Payerbach, Austria. Together with their children, they expanded the product range and refined the family recipes.

Despite the challenges of war and loss, the business endured.

Karl Götzinger II took the reins after his brother, Karl, passed during WWII and continued the craft with dedication.

Following in his father's footseps, Karl became a passionate Master Butcher working well into his 90s.

NEW GENERATIONS, NEW BEGINNINGS

1987–1988

Karl’s children Christian and Auguste continued running the Austrian business successfully.

But in 1986, Karl’s son Stephan Götzinger made a bold move relocating to Australia to start a new chapter.
His skills didn’t go unnoticed. In 1988, Stephan was invited to produce sausages using his family's traditional recipes for Expo 88 in Brisbane, supplying the German Bierhaus, and English and Swiss Pavilions.

His products were a hit, and soon after, he launched Götzinger Smallgoods, which he ran until 2000.
