Before you take home a pack of snags from the grocery store, check what percentage of ‘Australian Ingredients’ have been used in their making. Anything less than 90% and you’d be wise to put them back!

Some of the best-known brands contain as little as 18% Australian ingredients. That may account for little more than the water content! So where does the ‘meat’ in a pork sausage come from, if not an Australian farm?

In contrast, Gold Coast manufacturer Eve Smallgoods purchases quality pork from local suppliers with farms in SE Queensland and Northern NSW.

Their butchers hand-cut the meat from the bone, to ensure gristle and bone chips are excluded. No gluten, filler, preservatives, artificial colours or sulphites are added; just the essentials, such as high quality herbs and spices.
